CRIME BRANCH CID (CB CID):-

The Crime Branch CID supervises the investigation of interstate crimes, serious offences, anti-trafficking, terrorist offences and cyber crimes.

CB CID is headed by an officer of the rank of Additional Director General of Police, has 7 Special Units and 34 Detachments.

The Chennai City Commissionerate also has a separate Cyber Crime Cell. A similar cell exists in the CB CID headquarters also A separate Anti Trafficking Cell also functions in the CB CID wing of the police. CB CID also has a counterfeit currency wing and anti-Trafficking Cell.

Besides unearthing fake and counterfeit Currencies, various other White Collar offences like bogus certificates, non-judicial stamp papers, passport, credit card frauds, etc., cases are also handled by the Crime Branch CID
