DOING THE RIGHT THING: Police constable M Nirmala receives the cash reward from commissioner R Sekar

Chennai: City police commissioner R Sekar on 28.08.08 (Friday) felicitated the woman constable who on Thursday helped a woman who delivered a baby girl on the railway platform at Central Railway station while on her way to the maternity hospital, with a cash reward of Rs 1,000. Healso gave here a bona fide certificate appreciating her help to the public.M Nirmala, attached to the Flower Bazaar all-women police station, was appreciated for her selfless service by the commissioner in person.

It may be recalled that Chitra, a resident of Thirunindravur near Avadi, delivered a baby girl on a suburban railway platform at Central Railway station at 5.45 am on 27.08.08.
