MODERNISATION OF POLICE FORCE

Upgradation of skills of the Police personnel, improvement of infrastructure facilities, and change of attitude of the Police Force are essential ingredients in the process of the Modernisation of the Police Force. The State Government had been providing a sum of Rs.10 crores to Rs.12.50 crores every year since 1993. In addition to the Government of India grant, the State Government has been putting up a matching amount for the Modernisation programme covering buildings, housing, mobility, communication, training, weapons, Finger Print Bureau / Forensic Sciences Lab, data processing, computerization and equipment.

575 Computers, 40 Laser Printers for CIPA Project and 450 Computers for other Offices & Special Units.
240 quarters for upper subordinates and 460 quarters for lower subordinates. 5 Buses, 14 Mini Buses , 77 Jeeps, 73 Vans, 15 Lorries and 23 Motor Cycles for Police mobility.
200 E-Beat system, 5 Voice Logger, 125 Digital Cameras, 36 LCD Projectors and 60 Photo Copiers for Cities and Special Units. New Building for Forensic Science Lab and Automatic Finger Print Identification System for FPB.

The salient features are as follows :

3000 quarters for Police Personnel all over the State to be constructed each year.
Construction of Police Stations, upgradation of PS under the UNDP model, construction of District Police Offices (DPOs) and Range Offices, Armed Reserve Complex, Communication Complex, Forensic Science Lab, Headquarters and Regional Forensic Science Labs and State Police Academy.
Purchase of vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans, bus, two wheelers) for the districts, special units, Chief Minister’s security etc.,
mall arms, non-lethal weapons, tear gas guns, body protectors.
The digitization of the microwave network, provision of VHF sets, walkie-talkies etc.,
For Forensic Science Laboratory/Finger Print Bureau(FSL/FPB) procurement of equipment with state-of-the-art technology including DNA laboratories.
Intelligence gathering equipment, security equipment, office automation equipment.
Computer hardware, software, training and networking.
